LU-VE A FINALIST AT THE SODALITAS SOCIAL AWARDS 2017

Milan, 10 Oct 2017. LU-VE Group is one of the finalists at the 15th edition of the Sodalitas Social Awards presented to companies and organizations in recognition of their efforts to create a sustainable future, implementing initiatives to effectively encourage growth, development and inclusion.

LU-VE Group was selected as one of the six best entrants in the category “Work, equal opportunities and human rights” together with Quanta (winner), ENEL, Saint-Gobain, Sanofi (2 projects).

This prestigious result is thanks to a project entitled “Like Shoes in the Fridge” which has united the Group since 2007 with the Alfa Social Cooperative. The objective of the collaboration is the recovery and integration into the workplace of people with physical and/or mental health issues, through work tenders for cleaning services and the management of refuse collection and sorting, with the aim, where possible, of employment within the LU-VE production facility. The innovative element of the project is the collocation of such people with “real” (not protected) work situations, requiring their participation in normal company life and therefore their social reinsertion and integration. The work has a therapeutic function, encouraging the social recognition of the worker and increasing self-esteem and personal dignity.

The project has since 2007 led to the insertion of 15 women and 35 men, 22 of whom have a stable job and 5 have been taken on by LU-VE. In 2016 a book recounting the experience of people with mental and physical health problems was published (entitled “Like Shoes in the Fridge”) to disseminate this development model of social and corporate awareness.

All the projects of the finalists of the 15th Sodalitas Social Awards have been published in the “Libro d'oro della Sostenibilità d'impresa” and in the “Sodalitas Social Solution”, the most complete online database at European level on Company Sustainability (www.sodalitas.it).
